HAPPY BIRTHDAY CULT BEAUTY!

The internet is wonderful for many reasons, one of which is the fact that the world feels much smaller and we are all more connected. I can FaceTime my parents every morning and see snaps of their day even though they live almost 2000 miles away, I can watch the new series of Orange is the New Black at the same time as my US friends and all-importantly, I am no longer limited to the beauty products I can buy in Blighty alone. Anyone who remembers doing their schoolwork with Encarta, not Google, will tell you that their working methods aren’t the only things that have changed – our beauty stashes are almost unrecognisable since the dawn of online shopping. Years ago you might have been gifted an item a friend bought you on their travels, or picked up some things yourself on a holiday, but what did you do when they ran out? Now we can pick up the cream of the beauty crop from all over the world and small and established brands alike have an even playing field – the best example of this is Cult Beauty.

As a blogger I interact with a lot of brands, and I think from a readers perspective you might only see a certain aspect of that, whether it’s a press sample, or the idea that bloggers blindly do anything a PR wants (we don’t – at least, I don’t) but by far my favourite part of blogging when it comes to brands is being able to sit across from someone who founded a brand you admire and pick their brains. It’s really great to chat with people you share a passion with and it’s inspiring to be around people who have established themselves and are making a success of their ideas. In my time blogging I’ve not only put faces to brands but I’ve got to know the people and personalities behind them – two of those personalities are Jessica Deluca and Alexia Inge, the founders of Cult Beauty, one of my favourite online shopping destinations where you can buy otherwise hard to find beauty products from all over the world. They really understand bloggers and appreciate feedback and have opened their business and home to share their beauty obsessions. Their passion is infectious and I’m so happy that in a world of huge corporations, two beauty lovers with an idea are celebrating the 6th anniversary of it’s existence.

I could spend all day reeling off a list of the things I love about the site, from it’s classy look and editorial layout to the amazing brands they stock. They stock OCC, Jouer, Korres, Daniel Sandler, REN, Phyto, NEOM, Nuxe, Elemis, Caudalie, Sachajuan (the (impressive) list goes on!) but I’ve shared some of my very own all-time favourite products below. Happy Birthday Cult Beauty! Here’s to 6 more years of beauty finds.
