Easter at POLY

One of my reasons for wanting to work at a kindergarten this year was that we get to celebrate holidays! I love crafting for the holidays and I enjoy nothing more than crafting alongside my children. I believe that learning English is not only about following the curriculum and promoting the material, but it’s also about the experience as a whole. If the kids have a good time while being immersed in English, then it’s all good in the end.

For the Easter holiday, we started a week early by making Easter baskets out of milk cartons. My co-teacher, Ms. Kelly, glued 3 mini milk cartons together so that each egg would have its own separate nest. We gave the kids a coloring page and had them color and glue the Easter images onto the cartons. A week later (on April 18th), we had the kids bring in 3 boiled eggs each to dye. After having them decorate the eggs with their crayons, we let them dye the eggs in a variety of colors.

After watching an Easter movie (Hop, a horrible movie BTW), the Korean co-teachers hid them all around Poly. It took my kids a total of 6 seconds to find 2 eggs hahahaha. But it was cute. Despite how cheesy it all looked from an adult’s point of view, to the kids, it was an awesome day. Looking at the calendar, the next holiday event is Children’s Day (to be celebrated on May 2nd – an all-day event), and beyond that, I don’t know. Here are a few pictures from Easter at POLY:
