Progressing Through

October is quickly ending. When I’m on a time crunch, time goes by faster. I stay after on Tuesdays and Thursdays to prepare for the upcoming Poly Debate Competition in early November. My poor kids are also stuck listening to me. My 11-hour work days aren’t so bad actually. I’m used to getting out of work at 9pm (thank you April for the 3 years of training). Getting children to work towards a goal is hard. I mean, they do it well for homework, but this is a competition. It needs to be good. Thankfully, Mr. Kim, my co-worker, is helping me out with all this. I have 3 teams to train and then there’s also MGT5. Not enough Ms. Vu to go around… Mr. Gorin will be back on Monday so he can help out then too.

Prepping kids for a competition gives my job meaning again. I thrive on competition and I’ve missed it. These first 8 months at Poly have been a little quiet, so it’s nice having something to prepare for on the side. Granted, it’s no UCC video competition… but it’s a competition and I’ll take what I can get.

Aside from debate prep, I am just taking it easy here in Seoul. I have a lot to think about since my contract is ending in February. I still don’t know where I will end up next year… but wherever I will be, I know it’ll be the right choice.

Well, it’s an early day tomorrow due to a field trip. We’ll be picking potatoes and carrots on some farm in Ilsan. It should be a fun and rustic day.
