The Future of Flavour

So although my skills in the kitchen might not match up…I could identify with their stories, I understood their passion and I was excited by their vision.

Recently I was invited along to photograph the Basque Culinary Centre’s annual summit at Blue Hill. Which pretty much means – all the rock stars of the culinary world gather in one place to discuss the future of food & flavour and how as a collective they can influence that.

The advisory board consists of chefs from around the world, including: Ferran Adrià (Spain), Gastón Acurio (Peru), Alex Atala (Brazil), Dan Barber (United States), Massimo Bottura (Italy), Michel Bras (France), Yukio Hattori (Japan), Enrique Olvera (Mexico), René Redzepi (Denmark), and Joan Roca (Spain).

Anyone who knows anything about food knows who these guys are…

I love people who have passion for what they do and if they can make a living out of their passion…even better. The world needs more of that. Every day I am thankful for the fact that I am able to make a living from my photography. I am passionate about telling stories and capturing the world the way I see it. So although my skills in the kitchen might not match up…I could identify with their stories, I understood their passion and I was excited by their vision.

Make no mistake…food is an art form. An art form that involves communities, breeders, food scientists, farmers and chefs. The end result is a product of a journey – a joint effort by people with a shared passion.

Thank you to Blue Hill for hosting the event. I can’t wait to bring my family here and share with them such a beautiful space.
