February Birchbox

I haven't done a subscription box post in a very long time. These are one of my favorite posts to read from other bloggers, so I thought I would start them up again.

If you have been a reader for a while, you know how much I love Birchbox. It is probably my favorite subscription box to receive. It was the first box I ever subscribed to, it is inexpensive, the customer service and rewards program is incredible, and I've found some great products through the service. So for $10 a month, it is a no brainer for me.

This month Birchbox partnered up with US Weekly and their beauty editor Gwen Flamberg on their "Step and Repeat" themed box in honor of awards season. As in previous months, I received 4 products and one additional product that they coin a "Beauty Extra."

(pouch not included in Birchbox)
Bain de Terre Passion Flower Color Preserving Shampoo and Conditioner - A paraben-free blend of argan and mono oils that protect and repair color-treated had. Full Size Shampoo $12.00/13.5 oz; Conditioner $13.50/13.5 oz

I haven't used these yet but they smell really good and are for color treated hair so I will definitely give them a try. I'll be traveling next month and most likely take these with me. Both samples are 1.7 oz. Based on the full size price, the total value of these samples is $3.21.

Caudalie S.O.S Morning Eye Rescue - Antioxidant-rich organic grape water moisturizes and soothes while hyaluronic acid keeps skin plump and supple and a dooese of white tea boosts circulation and helps reduce puffiness. Free of skin-irriating fragrances, parabens and sulfates. Full Size $34.00/0.5 oz

I love Caudalie products and have yet to use one that I did not like. I received a sample of this before from Sephora and enjoyed it. I received a 0.23 oz sample making it $15.64 value

OPI Sheer Tints in I Can Teal You Like Me - Those color-tinted top coats help transform the appearance of your polish, whether the sheer tints are worn alone, applied over other colors, or layered for an ombre effect. Full Size $9.00/0.5 oz

When I saw that Birchbox was sampling these this month, I was a little excited and hoping to receive it in my box. I hate to say that this was huge let down for me and I think it is because of the color I received, which is a blue/teal. Alone, it looked like I had an awkward nail fungus when I swatched it. I then swatched it over a few difference colors (beige, pink and white) and while I liked it over the white, it was just too much work when I could just use an opaque color to begin with. The sample I received was 1/8 of an oz, making it a $2.25 value.

Harney & Sons Fine Teas Wrapped Sachets - Rich and flavorful tea blends from the family owned craft blend. Full Size $9.60/20 sachets

I received two sachets, one in White Vanilla Grapefruit/White Tea and one in Paris/Black Tea. I am typically not into flavored teas, but I am intrigued by the combination of vanilla and grapefruit so I will definitely brew these. Two sachets are valued at $0.96.

Given the value of each item and the sample sizes received, this box is about a $22 value.

This particular Birchbox didn't wow me, but you can't win them all. I still enjoy the service and discovering new products each month. For more information on Birchbox, or to subscribe visit their website HERE.
