A BEAUTY MAKEOVER (IN THE HOME OFFICE!)

Remember a couple of weeks back when I mentioned that I’d be unveiling a new ‘beauty’ line whose palettes would blow your mind? Well, surprise! Those beauty experts? They’re none other than the helpful ladies and gents in the Ace Hardware Paint Studio!

Their new campaign – ‘Helpful is Beautiful’ is meant to offer buyers a boutique-style shopping experience that brings style to the paint aisle. Genius if you ask me, since I’ve been selecting colors based on the runways and beauty trends for years! And since my guy’s attic home office needed a little makeover, we teamed up with Ace’s exclusive Clark Kensington to do just that…

This room was quietly existing in boring beige, so first came the hard part – choosing the color! I wanted something versatile that could go both masculine and feminine, would compliment my guy’s industrial style and my more classic sensibilities, and would potentially work for when we turn the office into a guest room later down the road.

The winner? Pop Quiz by Clark Kensington, Ace’s exclusive premium paint primer in one. The line features new designer-selected hues that cover the entire color spectrum, so we weren’t for a lack of options here. And, to continue the beauty analogy, the colors at The Paint Studio are actually displayed in drawers with bright lighting, similar to how cosmetics are sold today, which makes the true shade way easier to see. I have to say, I’m pretty happy with our result…!

I think we nailed it. Cozy, and fresh at the same time, this shade skews aqua in some lights, but overall is a soothing green-blue. I love the way this color looks with all the wood in the space, and using some small pops of red with it makes it a bit more playful!

This photo is such a perfect example of how paint changes drastically in different lights, which is why it’s awesome that The Paint Studio allows customers to find their perfect color by offering pint-sized paint samples for just $4.99 and will offer the Valspar Color Guarantee (if you don’t like the first color you chose, you can have another on them.) So, you have the opportunity to paint swatches all over the room before you make your big decision.

The drafting table was really the jumping off point for us in the room since it lends the industrial vibe, so I’m really happy with how it all works together! Obviously we have a long way to go to finish things off here, but the simple coat of paint has already changed the mood completely!

I’m also really glad we opted for a nice grey-white (in ‘Frost’) to freshen things up for the ceiling paint a bit. The result lends itself to what’s sure to be quite the eclectic mix of his and hers as we keep decorating!

Oh, and in case you’re planning a little project time of your own this long weekend, now is the perfect time to check out The Paint Studio at Ace during their Star Spangled Sale from July 2nd – 7th to take $5 off Clark Kensington and Valspar paint! And take my advice – go for the color! I love having a room that’s not white!

note: this post and paint for this project was sponsored by ace hardware. all photos, thoughts and designs my own!
