AWESOMELY WILD :: A PARTY WITH THE ALISON SHOW!

So, what feels like forever ago now, I got together with a little blogger you may know by the name of Alison. You know. Of The Alison Show? Well, let me tell you, this girl knows how to bring the party. Which is probably why she and Bing got together to throw some parties around the country for the past few months, kicking things off with me in Seattle!

I was beyond excited to partner with her to throw a totally fun and crazy little shindig for some of our favorite bloggers and friends in my studio. What came out of it is exactly what happens when you mix her penchant for ‘tacky’ (good tacky, she notes) with my eye for classic with a twist. Welcome to ‘The Jungle’ ya’ll…

Well, a very classy jungle. With a few small nods to a more exotic theme we transformed my little studio into the perfect setting for a dinner party with zebra overlays on the bar, wild palm leaves on the buffet, and plenty of other fun details…

Every guest was greeted by our mascot (every party needs a zebra piñata), a signature drink, and a little gift…

We chose to set the tables simply (you’ll see why in a minute) and fill the room with green balloons and wild arrangements done by my friend and florist McKenzie Powell

One of my favorite details – the layered silk leaves that covered the bar which you can see a peek of above!

The premise of the evening? So glad you asked. As a part of the ‘Search for your Awesome‘ series, put together by Bing and The Alison Show, these events were made to encourage getting out of your comfort zone by creating something – duh – awesome.

So, Alison and I did what we do best – we put on a party and a show! She, the motivational speaker on awesomeness, and me, the host and instructor for the evening. The project? To give each girl the chance to create her own original place setting using a bunch of pieces from my personal prop closet…

They had to choose between the rattan or gold chargers (which is why the tables were left simple!) and then build their own look.

I loved seeing what each of them came up with. It always pushes your boundaries in designing when you’re given a limited choice, and options you wouldn’t normally go with. Prints and patterns were mixed, even the centerpieces scavenged, for the perfectly styled look…

And throughout it all, of course, we had incredible fun.

A huge thanks to Alison and Bing for tapping me to launch these parties, and for bringing the awesome to our studio! I can’t wait for the next time I get to go all out in our little event space – every time we do it just gets better and better, and you know I love getting to share it with all these fabulous, creative people!
