Playroom Progress | Rustic Media Stand

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of BHG Live Better at Walmart. All opinions are my own.

Now that we are finally checking some items off our to do list, I decided it was time to get the playroom set up. Right now it’s just kind of a storage heap for, well…. everything! It’s not an enjoyable place to be, it’s unorganized and there’s nothing cozy about it. This space is far from finished, but I wanted to share our new media center with you. Since this space is for the kids I’m trying to not take over too much stylistically, but I am still hoping to keep it true to the style of our home. We will see what the kids have to say about that.

Our new media stand is cube organizer from the Better Homes and Gardens line at Walmart. I’m in love with their new weathered finish. It gives us such practical storage while keeping my style in place (yay). It’s the perfect collision for our kids playroom! You can also find these deep wire baskets at Walmart which are great for when the kids pull their toys out. They can take out a basket and play with those toys, and the replace it when they are done. You like how I say replace it when they are done? Yeah… that’s just what happens in my fantasy life. What really happens is, they pull out everything and don’t put it back until we go through 3 hours of an ordeal about cleaning up after ourselves. That’s reality right there!

My overall plan is to decorate the entire space with all their artwork. I’m currently making a mental list of some creative ways to incorporate it. My kids love to draw, and more than that they love to show off their work! Sometimes it feels like I’m disappearing into the piles of their beautiful artwork, so rather than being frustrated with paper everywhere I decided that hanging it on the wall accomplishes two things: It gives the family joy in seeing their work displayed, and it stops the random piles of paper! Plus who doesn’t love to look at kids’ drawings? They are so full of innocence, laughter, and joy! : ) More projects to come – let’s just say there will be a whole art station : ) For now I’ll just sit down here and enjoy the one partially finished wall, haha!

I decorated this space mostly with the kids stuff. It’s some of their books, and then I threw in a bingo game and an old wooden checker’s board. We haven’t filled up the baskets yet, but I’m sure that will come soon enough!

If you are looking for some cube storage, definitely check these out from BHG at Walmart. They are very solid and don’t sway like some of the other’s I’ve had! Plus that weathered finished, swoon!
