SOLITUDE.

I’m so glad today is the last day of January. It’s always a tough month for me…I really wanted to delve more into that here on the blog this year…but I just couldn’t do it. I’m not ready yet, and I don’t want to rush writing a post about something so important to me. Tomorrow is a fresh start, thank goodness.

I have some really exciting things lined up for 2013. And some projects started in 2012 that are finally wrapping up — hopefully I’ll be able to share soon. I’d like to start showcasing more of my work on here. From my day job, and just exploratory projects that I want to do for fun/personal development.

I have grown leaps and bounds as a designer at my current job. I’m so thankful that the group of people I work with are wildly talented, kind and creative. They constantly push me to be better, and it has been exactly the environment I needed (and continue to need). I feel like I’m still learning every day, which is all I can really ask for. Working with so many different aesthetics and such a variety of projects has been monumental for my personal growth. Of course, I’m still partial to minimal design…and probably will always be, but working outside that style has really forced me to think creatively on a regular basis. Being uncomfortable/submerged in new territory is the best way to expand your abilities, and though it was frustrating at first, I’ve come to love and appreciate getting to work in so many styles.

Well, I’ve gotten a bit introspective here, which is nice; I hope to do more of that on my blog in the future. I’m trying to learn to not be afraid to share more of who I am with people. And, a goal of mine is to start considering all of the things I’m thankful for on a more regular basis. It’s easy to get tied up in worrying (I’m a crazy worrier) and not step back and look at how many good things have happened — especially when life moves at such a fast pace.

Photos like these put me in the mood to just take a quiet moment for myself and reflect. I hope they inspire that in you as well. Cheers to February! :)
