DIY Pigmented Stick Lip Balms

Hey all, so I was feeling my DIY bug this morning. I recently did a review on Sleeks

version of the popular OCC lip tars and absolutely loved them. I started thinking of ways I could create my own lip paints using the Sleeks Pout Paints which would be moisturising on the lips, as well as being pigmented. I also wanted it to be easy to carry around, preferably in a stick form as I’m not a huge fan of dipping my fingers into my lip balm when I’m out and about. So my fellow beauty lovers, after trying out a couple of ideas this is what I came up with.

Absolutely love it, not only was it extremely moisturising, but it also produced good pigmentation on the lips with great shine. The colour lasted for a good 2.5 bours without eating or drinking. Below is my step-by-step guide to making your own Tinted Stick Lip Balms using Sleeks Pout Paints or OCC Lip Tars, give it a go and have fun

1. Firstly you’re going to clean and sanitize all your tools and work space, you are going to need:

– Sanitizer – Rubbing Alcohol

– 1 Teaspoon

– 2 Small Microwave safe Containers

– Stirrer (I used my old lip brush)

– Sleek Pout Paints OR OCC Lip Tars.

– Stick Lip Balm of your choice – MUST BE COLOURLESS (mine was 4g)

– Wet Wipes or Tissue (for clean-up or any spillage)

2. Empty the entire Stick Lip Balm into a Small Microwave safe container.

3. Place you teaspoon into the 2^nd Microwave safe container (just to help minimise spillage), and start adding you Sleek Pout Paints or OCC Lip Tars into the teaspoon. If you’re using one colour, then you’ll need half a teaspoon of product. However, if like me you want to make your own colour creation, just keep in mind you want roughly half a teaspoon of product and thoroughly mix.

4. Melt the Stick Lip Balm in the Microwave (15-20 seconds) keep an eye on it as you don’t want to overheat the balm, then transfer the Lip Paint to melted balm and mix thoroughly.

5. If the product starts to harden while mixing, give it a quick burst in the microwave (2s), this will make it easier to pour back into the stick holder. Pour mixture into your empty stick holder, making sure you’ve turned the stick all the way down. This part can get messy so you may want to place the stick holder into the 2^nd microwaveable container to catch any spillage whilst pouring.

6. Leave to cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, then you can place into the fridge for 1 hour.
