CRAVINGS: … that come true!

Over the past 2 years, I have totally changes my shopping habits. When I first started working full-time, back in March 2012, it was overwhelming to have a monthly income of my own and I basically felt like the retail world was mine (or so I thought …). I would casually stop by ZARA, H&M & Co. after work, just to browse. Sure enough I usually left with a little something in my shopping bag. Now, a blouse for 50€ may not seem like the world, but 50€ on a regular basis adds up to quite a bit. After about 6 months, I realized that I wasn’t even wearing most of those pieces I had recently acquired. It was time to think over what I wanted for myself and my wardrobe, which is when I quickly came to realize that I wanted quality over quantity. I constantly find myself going back to the same items in my closet, while others stay ignored – even with tags still on. That’s why I decided to shop less, but choose well. And it has really worked for me personally. I now own lots of items that I truly cherish, such as my Isabel Marant “Poppy” heels or the Stella McCartney Falabella bag. I take better care of those items and value them more because it wasn’t a spontaneous buy, but something I actually thought about.

Those that have followed this blog for at least 2 years might remember these cravings from August 2012. To be honest, I don’t even remember where I first spotted the “Tokyo” sneakers by Jimmy Choo. I just know that was obsessed within a matter minutes. I ended up stalking Pinterest for pictures and I even made sure my entire family knew what those sneakers looked like. It took me months to decide to actually buy them and by that time they were sold out (doesn’t that always happen?). Well, after getting back from our vacation on Friday I was in the city to buy groceries and walked by Jimmy Choo, only to spot an even more perfect pair of that exact sneaker. Simple, timeless black in suede and patent leather. This time I wasn’t going to wait until they sold out, so now they’re mine! And I am happy as could be (my credit card not so much …). To make a long story short, two years later I finally own those perfect sneakers I wanted and will be wearing them non-stop throughout Fall ♥
