Urban Decay Electric Palette

Ok, so one day we have glitter and another we have a neon eyeshadow palette…what happened to the taupes and bronzes and nice ‘my lips but better’ lipsticks?! I know, these couldn’t be more outside of my comfort zone if they tried. But despite it not being a bronze with soft shimmer, I can still appreciate the beauty of a palette like this Urban Decay Electric Palette and wanted to share – plus it does give me a kick up the bum to break outside of that comfort zone and get a bit braver…

The colours are like you asked a toddler to pick their favourite colours and pop them in a paint box together – and there’s something bloomin’ awesome about that. Reminds me of the fun side of make-up – where it’s about creativity and expression rather than looking good in photos and hiding imperfections.

So the Urban Decay Electric Palette is definitely not for the faint hearted – but there’s a part of me that feels like I’d be missing out if I didn’t have this!? Does that sound odd? Probably – I don’t think I’m going to be giving up my taupes and replacing with a hot pink eyeshadow. But I love that this has the brightest colours in the paint box just crying to be played with. The standout shades for me have to be Chaos (the bright blue), Jilted (the Fuchsia with a sheen) and Savage (the hot pink). But all the shades in there – as much as I am terrified (slight exaggeration) to wear them they are stunning shadows. So pigmented – which is no mean feat at all for a neon shade like some of them in there. I love that there’s a silver thrown in for good measure – blend any of these with that for a metallic bit of twist and it could really tone the shade down. If you’re a bit scared but want a pop of colour then try them just to add a bit of colour along the lower lash line. But if you’re braver than me – try the full on shadow look.

What I’d love to know is what looks do you imagine creating with this palette? Give me some ideas and I might just give it a whirl!

Urban Decay Electric Palette is available from Debenhams (£38)
