#MyNo7Feeling Look 1

I think most women are a tad guilty of getting stuck in a rut when it comes to make-up *raises hand* – I certainly am. I do love me a light base, neutral eyeshadow, coral blush and lashes…simple and basically what you will find me sporting day to day. So when No7 got in touch to see if I wanted to spend 7 days trying out different looks I was very intrigued – what would the looks be? How far out of my comfort zone would they be pushing me? But in an effort to mix things up a bit – I will be trying out seven looks over seven days (makes sense for Number 7 and all that right…). Starting off with look number one.

Look number one is one of the ‘hero looks’ from the brand for the season – the ones with gorgeously normal women featured in all their natural beauty with zero retouching. Probably a touch of flattering lighting of course – but who doesn’t love a bit of flattering lighting?!

The three key products for this ‘Shimmer in bronze’ look are the Stay Perfect Long-lasting Volume Mascara, the Instant Radiance Bronzing Highlighter cheek-pop crayon thing and then a touch of the BB Lips in ‘Geranium’ (a shade designed to match the very popular ‘Gay Geranium’ shade of lipstick. A bright orange coral shade of creamy gloss.

Of course I did do a couple of other bits – adding some concealer and brows, plus I used the new-ish No 7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation – that I am seriously impressed with. I was colour matched to Cool Vanilla and I think it matches my skin tone perfectly. The bottle and formula make me think it may very well be a possible dupe of a certain Chanel foundation on the market… and it really is rather fab. It’s designed to be both long wearing and light – a rare combination and one usually sacrifices the other. But having work this on one of the hottest days of the year, where my usual light bases would just slip right off my face I can happily say it’s held up well. Plus the finish is matte so less of the dreaded t-zone shine than lighter bases often result in.

The mascara is another one that really impressed me – I’m not usually a fan of the comb style of brush – preferring the full bristle brush option usually (will be interesting to see how this compares to one of them later in the week) but whilst the style of brush isn’t my preference I do really like the result. The lashes are dark, defined and look a hell of a lot longer than they did pre-mascara. So a big thumbs up. This is also one of those ‘tubing’ type of mascara that can be removed with just warm water rather than full remover – so extra points for convenience.

The shade of the BB Lips is lovely too – but my main tip is don’t try and just apply straight from the tube as the colour is quite strong and it’s hard to get an even shade all over. Perhaps apply a little with the tube, then use your finger to rub in and blend a bit for a more natural looking finish overall – which is what I’ve done here.

The bronzer cheek pop really couldn’t be easier to apply – just a swipe or two across the cheek bones and blend. SO easy – perfect for days like today when it’s basically too hot to wear much make-up anyway. Minimal effort, maximum glow. Perfect for Summer days (and nights)

Overall, this look is right up my alley – a bit of an evening out on the base, simple glow for the cheeks, slight colour for the lips and nice strong lashes. Will just have to wait and see if the upcoming days are quite as ‘comfort zone friendly’ or if they’re a bit more of a challenge….lets see how I feel tomorrow!

Let me know in the comments if you’re ever guilty of being stuck in a rut with your look… let me know I’m not alone on that one!
