#MyNo7Feeling Look Five

Ok, so if yesterday was a touch out of my comfort zone then today’s purple look makes my comfort zone look like a speck in the rearview mirror. Not the nails, the nails I am absolutely fine with – although dark purple is definitely a colour I’m more likely to reach for in colder months (certainly not one in the middle of rare UK heatwave!) but hey – that’s the point of this week of different looks. Try something different and see how it feels. So far, this is definitely the one that feels the least ‘me’!

So, I mentioned the heatwave – that’s my excuse for the lazy hair-up look. I rarely wear my hair up when out and about but this was taken on a balmy afternoon working from home so sorry it’s hardly the most polished. For the eyes I went for a dusting of the grey shade from the palette as a base, then a combination of the two brighter purples – one (the pinker of the two) blended across most of the lid and then the more purple in the inner corners a little stronger. I added a touch of the darkest shade just along the lash line. Then blended, blended and blended some more to try and keep it on the softer side of smokey. I skipped putting anything on the lower lashes as decided that would be a bit much.

I did also reach again for the pink sheer lip shade from Look Three to add a little touch of brighter colour to the lips too – maybe a bit overkill, but felt it needed a little bit extra. Perhaps a nude would have been a better choice but I’m really liking the texture of the sheer lip shade. The mascara is another comb style one (similar brush to the one from look one) I did like how this one layers up, but overall think the other two mascaras are the ones I personally prefer over this one.

As far as how I feel with this look on – it definitely isn’t my favourite so far as right now, I just don’t feel comfortable with either a fairly smokey eye or colour. If I was wearing this in Autumn/Winter though I wouldn’t be as averse to it. I do however really like the new style of the shadow palettes which are really slick looking, and come with a pretty big mirror which is handy. The nail varnish (not shown as did a polish change on the feet for this darker shade as only did my nails in the teal look four yesterday) is very good quality. I’ve actually always been a fan of No.7 polish as have always found it to be really good quality (that and the eye make-up remover have always been my top picks when the £5 vouchers are floating around!).

All in all, I’m liking being nudged out of my comfort zone and did like a touch of playing with colour but not sure I’m going to be a full convert to a purple smokey eye for day to day wear!
