NARS Audacious Lipsticks

So you may have heard that NARS has a new range of lipsticks out. I was actually luck enough to meet Mr Francois Nars himself a couple of months ago (where has this year gone) and have a little sneak peek at these then. But I actually have my hands on two of them and BOY are these babies beautiful. If you’re thinking of splashing out on a high end lipstick then I can tell you – these are a great bet.

Firstly, from the bullet to the packaging they’re gorgeous – the casing is sleek metal that feels nicely expensive. Plus the lids have a snazzy little magnetic click to hold them in place. The outside of the casing is matte with slightly glossy ‘NARS’ to create some texture. Also, random – but the magnets make them stick together a bit too. Not sure when that will be handy.. but just putting that out there (don’t think that’s a design twist or anything – just coincidence).

These two shades are Michiyo (bright pink) and Raquel (nude) and they basically cover my two lipstick spectrums. I ADORE a super-bright pink lipstick and my eyes literally lit up when I opened up Michiyo. But when it comes to day to day, a nude is the way to go and Raquel is a classic blend of caramel and peachy nude.

Texture wise, you can’t fault these. If you like your lipsticks cream and pigmented and leaving your lips soft- then these are for you. Seriously though, can we all just take a moment to admire how pretty they are?! Even just the bullets with the NARS etched into them… love them.

Shade wise, Muchiyo is perfect if you’re a fan of MAC’s Candy Yum Yum but don’t want the matte texture. It’s a super-bright one that I know is a new favourite for a year-round pop of colour for me. Raquel is also very pretty in a paired-down make-up way. Or even for a ‘no-make-up’ type of look. Perhaps a good one to pair with a smokey eye. In the picture above I’m wearing it with the new Benefit Majorette cream to powder blush and think they really compliment each other – so if you like peachy nude shades give this one a whirl.

There are so many shades (40 to be precise) that if there isn’t one in there you like, I would be shocked. They cover the full spectrum from pinks, to reds, to nudes to purples and everything in between (apart from maybe something like green or blue…). Personally I have my eye on Brigitte & Julie – both pink/coral/nude shades that look right up my alley (and Brigitte Bardot has always been a beauty idol of mine…). I maybe need to start browsing the deeper berry shades for Autumn appropriate colours too?!

Basically, these are some of the best premium lipsticks I’ve seen launched in recent years. LOVE them.
