The Lacquer Lab Novella Collection

A little into first for those who may not have come across The Lacquer Lab before – the Lacquer Lab is a British nail brand, created by mother-daughter duo Emily and Amanda. Emily is the blogger behind The Style Lobster and her mum, Amanda who prior to becoming co-founder of The Lacquer Lab ran a natural soap and cosmetics company. Between them (and with some gorgeous swatches courtesy of Allie from Brit Nails) they makeup the team behind The Lacquer Lab. The Lacquer Lab is creating all these amazing concoctions for your talons – with on trend shades (inspired by the cult nails community), with formulas that are ethical, vegan and 5-toxin free. So that’s the Lacquer Lab – now lets take a peek at the latest collection: The Lacquer Lab Novella Collection…

The Lacquer Lab Novella Collection is made up of six shades. Going from left to right above: Cigarillo (caramel), The Wonderous (greyed baby pink), Lover At The Ritz (brown toned plum), Pocket Full of Jewels (golden glitter), Storyteller (soft blue), A Lady’s Confession (blood red).

First impressions of the shades are that they’re a good twist on the ‘usual’ Autumn type of shades. All fairly muted shades, that could pretty much be found in natural autumn colours – perhaps apart from the glitter one! I link that there’s a blue in there too and there’s a real blend of nudes, glitters and slightly brighter shades. Even though they all feel like they have something toned-down about them, perfect for the season.

Quality/application wise – I wore Lover At The Ritz on my nails last week and A Lady’s Confession at the weekend. Both apply like a total dream – creamy and smooth – zero streaking. Lover At The Ritz was perfect in two coats, where A Lady’s Confession needed a third to be totally opaque. All the swatches above are two coats FYI.

I love to see a new British brand coming up with some really cool, on-trend colours. Plus the packaging for these is really cool…which appeals to the totally shallow beauty blogger in me. Having had a bit of a nosey at the Lacquer Lab website it’s fab to see how varied the collections are – from neon glitters (I don’t care if Summer is over, Electric Beach is calling my name) to gorgeous tones nudes. All with fun names and some shades that feel really unique. Price wise, you’re looking at £9 for a single polish – so fairly mid-market I’d say. Which for a unique brand is well worth it (FYI it’s £2.80 for delivery, but over £40 and it’s free).

What do you think of The Lacquer Lab Novella Collection *? FYI – it’s on pre-order from Friday 24th October if you want to get yours!
