Holiday Tree-dition 2014: My Favorite Tradition!

My holiday checklist runneth over, but I was finally able to cross my absolute favorite tree-tivity off the list! Whoo! Cue confetti!

Wait! Don’t do that. I don’t want to have to add vacuuming back onto the list! I’m still finding neon green glitter on my toddler from Halloween… how is that even possible!?

Anywho! Some of you know the drill by now, but for those of you that may be new around here, each year Paul and I exchange ornaments based off our nicknames for each other. It’s ridiculously cheesy, so naturally I love it! I blog it yearly in hopes that a few of you are total cheeseballs too. I think I could name a few names… you know who you are!

Without further adieu, here’s my little ornament exchange time capsule:

This one is currently nestled under 500 layers of bubble wrap in an attempt to toddler-proof.

(says the person who broke a bowl and two glasses this week)

Can someone please come up with a line of herringbone ornaments?! I need this to be a new trend. Make it happen.

My bear of a husband has admitted once or twice to using my past blog posts to make sure he doesn’t get me the same ornament two years in a row. Which, I’ll totally admit, I almost did! I’m borderline obsessed with those sparkle-dusted bristle brush woodland ornaments and keep gravitating towards the same ones every year. I’m starting to get predictable, maybe I’ll get pinterest-y next year and make a bear out of a pine cone or mix things up with a neon pink bear covered in glitter and tinsel and ohmygoshthisneedstohappen!

Last year Mia graced us with her presence and we decided to let her in on the fun too! Since our little chickpea has too many nicknames for us to choose a spirit animal for her, we’ve been matching an ornament to her Halloween costume each year. She was a raccoon for her first Halloween and this year she chose a sparkly green butterfly costume. I was uber excited that we found the most obscenely glittery butterfly to match it. I think we’ll wind up letting her choose her ornament each year (shes quite opinionated for a tot!) so I’m excited to see how eclectic our family-themed tree will get!

Over the next few years we’ll be sticking to stuffed and bristled woodland creatures aka ornaments that won’t break if and when hurricane chickpea decides to scale the tree like a ferret.

What’s your favorite holiday tradition?
