Blog Essentials #2: Great Content
What does it mean to have great content? When you're a blogger who is looking to increase traffic and readership, great content plays a big part in making that happen. It's easy to fall into a rut of posting only because you feel like you have to post, but doing that could be limiting your overall reach.
When I started blogging, I put unneeded pressure on myself to post as often as possible. The problem with doing that is that it's pretty impossible to come up with new, high quality posts every day. You are not adding any value to your blog by simply posting random content with no substance.
So, what should you be posting then? Of course, this depends on the overall goal of your site. If you are perfectly happy with your readership and don't really care about increasing traffic, by all means, feel free to post whatever you like, whenever you like. However, if you're on the opposite side of the spectrum and those visitors are important to you, it helps to be posting content that your readers will find valuable. Posts they can share with their friends, and posts that have a long lifespan. These types of posts will continue to keep new people coming back to your site for months or even years down the road.
Think about how you can tweak your content to include valuable bits of information, or ways to make your posts unique to you.
