Casual Friday + Moment of the Week

STYLE TIP:

As we head further and further away from winter, you can still reach for those cozy knits. Just make sure the colors are lighter…pastels and metallics are huge for knit wear this season!

MOMENT OF THE WEEK:

“I Did NOT See That One Coming” Moment

I am preparing to give a fairly long cognitive assessment to a 2nd grade boy. I always start my assessments the same way:

1) We make small talk and I tell approximately 3 hilarious jokes (if they don’t at least attempt a chuckle, I make a note in my file).

2) If it’s a boy, I always ask them, “So, who’s your girlfriend?” Why? Because nothing is funnier than watching the reaction to that question from a 6 year old boy (except that time a 5-year old kindergarten student told me he was a “pimp….and pimps don’t have girlfriends.” Bad part? I think he meant it. I made a note in my file about that one.)

3) I ask them if they have any questions before we get started.

So this is what happened as we started Tuesday’s assessment:

Me: “So…do you have any questions for me before we get started?”

Boy: “No.”

Me: ”Well okay then! Let’s get started!” I pull out a book and open it up in front of him. I point at a picture of a fish and say, “This is Neef. Point to Neef.”

Boy: Looking at me with a confused look, “Wait. I have a question.”

Me: “Oh, well okay. What is it?”

And at this point I am thinking he is going to probably ask me one of the following:

• May I go to the bathroom?
• How long will this take?
• Am I going to miss PE?

But no.

Boy: “What are Kegel exercises?”

And yeah. It’s been a boring week so I only have one moment. It happens. :)
