Mini Pretzel Recipe: Chocolate Peanut Butter Bites

Hey y’all!! It’s Layla in the kitchen again, but I’m not in my kitchen… I’m joining Megan at her house for an easy and fun recipe for our kiddos to try out! Yep it’s time for another mini pretzel recipe: Peanut Butter Bites (dipped in chocolate, and on a kabob)!

This is an easy, creative and delicious treat that is handy at a party, for dessert, or even an after-school snack! With just a few ingredients, the outcome is adorable and even better, the children will love to assist with this one!

Ingredients:

Mini-pretzels
Peanut butter
Marshmallows (large, stackable or flavored!)
Bananas slices
Strawberries
Microwavable chocolate dip
Kabob Skewers
Wax paper

I chose a microwavable dipping chocolate so that it’s easier for the children to work with and there’s no chance of getting burned on the stove top. If you love the deliciousness of the double broiler melted chocolate, I shared the instructions as part of my Bavarian mini pretzel recipe.

The first step to this process, however, requires a bit of patience. Before you can create the kabob, you first have to make the chocolate peanut butter pretzel sandwiches and let them harden.

The kids can help with this step! They each got a plastic knife and spread peanut butter on the pretzels, squished two together, and then I dunked them in the chocolate.

We made a massive amount of these peanut butter bites, deliciously dipped in chocolate, and then set them on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet and put them in the freezer for 30 minutes. Once these beauts are nice and hard, you’re ready to assemble.

My assembly line order went marshmallow first, then banana, strawberry, pretzel, then repeat. If you have extra chocolate and extra time, You can consider dunking half of the marshmallow, the strawberry, etc. so that every bite has some chocolate goodness on it. I find that the one hearty and decedent part of this kabob is the pretzel peanut butter bite itself and the rest is just bonus.

One last option is to melt another microwavable chocolate, pour it in a decorative bowl and allow guests to dip their skewer into a ‘fondue’ type chocolate, so they get the best of both chocolate worlds, hard and melty smooth!

I had such a blast creating this mini pretzel recipe with some of my favorite mini people and, even more, creating the beautiful and delicious memories! I hope at your next get together you can whip up a batch of sweet and salty kabob goodness and win over a crowd with your mini pretzel yumminess! Dip on!
