Knitting socks

I am a girl who's always in motion and, as such, I usually need to be working on more than one project at a time. Currently, not only am I working on my jacket and drawing illustrations but I also started knitting a new pair of socks.
I've knit quite a few pairs of socks in the past but this is my first time knitting a pair of socks from the toe-up and, surprisingly, I like it a lot more than starting at the cuff. There's something I enjoy about starting with the foot right away and then mindlessly knitting away to make a long leg, just the way I like it.
I am using Heidi Bears's magnificent tutorials. Really, if you are thinking of ever knitting a pair of socks this is the tutorial to follow. It guides you through every single step with clear photographs. Perfect for beginners.

The yarn I am using is from an old sweater that I unraveled last October and I now have about 5 or 6 balls of this yarn, give or take. I like the fact that it's a color I wouldn't usually pick out myself. I have about one red coat and one red plaid shirt in my closet and that's it for that color so I'd say I'm branching out.
I also made the little Baroque-inspired pouch that I'm using to hold my yarn. I made it out of an old spare Christmas suede placemat that had never been used. I know, I'm a re-purposing queen! I even quilted the little squares myself. It was about three years ago and I remember I had no idea what I was doing but I somehow made it work and I was so proud.
