The Wool Ride

What I Wore: Coat – c/o Barbour, Turtleneck Top – c/o Barbour, Trousers – ASOS, Loafers – ASOS, Backpack – c/o Barbour

Exactly one week ago this Sunday morning, I was embarking on a very personal fear-busting day, which may or may not sound completely ridiculous to you! I was taking part in The Wool Ride with Barbour and a few of my favourite ladies Olivia, Kristabel, Lucy & Carrie. But I was also attempting to conquer a fear that had been with me since I was 5 years old. You see, I had a very nasty accident while on a bike at that age, and with just the dent in my left cheek for nostalgic memories (I’m told there was a lot of blood and tears, the tears being from my mum) I’ve kind of been mentally scarred from ever cycling.

I didn’t let that stop me from taking part in The Wool Ride though, and while I didn’t finish the 13.4 mile cycle across London’s busy (and very scary) streets, I actually rode a bike properly for the first time since I was a little girl, and in London no less! The Wool Ride is part of Wool Week, to champion the ethical, biodegradable and many other positive qualities of choosing to use wool. I’m a sucker for a good cause, especially when it comes to clothing so if you’re like me, you should read all about the campaign for wool. I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with myself after last Sunday’s antics, it’s not everyday you face your fears and actually win- I’m going to get myself a bike now! x

Thanks to the awesome Shuffle team for the photos!
