Ladylike Embellishment

What I Wore: Dress – c/o Free People, Coat – c/o Reiss, Shoes – c/o Reiss, Bag – ASOS

Excuse the photo-heavy post tonight, I wanted to show just how pretty this Free People dress is, but I doubt a million photos of me wearing it would do it justice! When the lovely Amy (new to Take 10!) got in touch asking if us ladies wouldn’t mind styling up a party dress from Free People I stopped what I was doing and headed straight to their website. If you’ve read this blog for a while, you’ll know I’m a big fan of Free People so I was more than happy to take on the party look style challenge! The top half of the dress is made from the most intricate embellishment detail, while the bottom is a swoosh-around velvet skirt. With buttons that do up at the back, it’s the perfect Victorian-meets-party that I love.

And of course, what with us being in December- and England generally being very cold or wet, or both, for all of it- the worst that could happen is getting dressed to the nines and stepping out in a blistering wind that seems to take your make-up off better than face wipes (speaking from experience). Equally important for me is the perfect winter coat to go with it, and not only does this Reiss number match the nude detailing in the dress, it also happens to be made of the softest and warmest material I’ve ever seen in a coat- I’d sleep in it if I wasn’t so precious about keeping it spotless. Finishing with not-sky-high heels with a beautiful scalloped edge (that I can actually walk in), I felt pretty sparkly swish in my party look get up… I hope you agree! x
