Growing Up with Sauder Furniture

I’d like to thank Sauder Furniture for sponsoring this post. All thoughts & opinions are mine and I’m always honest with y’all.

Do you all remember when I wrote that I didn’t know what to do with my orangey-brown couches? They’re really good pieces of furniture, handed down from family, but I just don’t do those tones usually so I felt stuck and didn’t really try to decorate around them for a while. Add the fact that we had virtually no other furniture and were using TV trays as side tables meant we had a pretty sorry looking living room! But recently I learned about a company called Sauder that sells really affordable, good-looking stuff so I am excited to get a chance to review them! We had been looking for some side tables for months and hadn’t found anything that we both liked and could afford. The tables we ended up with were chosen because they were only $99 apiece and I love how classic they are. I think I could use them in any room in my house and they would look great.

When I started browsing the Sauder website I found a tool called expedition design and found a lot of great things. I was especially drawn to their modern collection, but was a litle sad that most of those items were sold out! When it came down to it, I love modern design but I decided I would rather add my modern touches in more semi-permanent ways and leave the furniture classic so that if in two years I am not feeling the modern style anymore I won’t be stuck with it. Ordering and shipping was a breeze and it came in lots of pieces which at first looked complicated but all the pieces were marked with letter stickers like the one you see below and the directions were clear, so it only took about an hour to put both side tables together. Not bad at all!

I did take more pictures of the process but in an unlikely tragedy I misplaced the memory card they were on. You guys can take my word for it that it was simple, right? Anyway, I was so excited to finally have some real side tables, not to mention this is the first furniture that we have ever picked out and bought (everything else we have is a hand-me-down or a DIY) and it just made me feel like a REAL grown-up. It also makes the room look way more put together and grown-up, and this has inspired me to make over the room even more. I have a renewed enthusiasm!

This makeover that I have embarked on will be ready for sharing in early September and I couldn’t be more excited about it. So, consider these the “before” shots. If you are looking for some grown-up furniture with a very reasonable price tag, I encourage you to check out Sauder! While you do that I’ll just be staring at my tables with disbelief that I actually own a thing that is brand new.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Sauder. The opinions and text are all mine!
