High Five Friday: Maine

We’re not in New York City anymore kids…

Nope. We’ve fled the city to breath in some fresh air, play by the ocean and enjoy the last few weeks of summer before the kids head back to school.

We’re spending some time up in Maine. Aside from a weekend camping more than 10 years ago and a wedding, we haven’t spent any time here and I’m excited to explore the area a bit. So far, it hasn’t disappointed us.

I had every intention of blogging on Wednesday but, I have to admit, it’s been really nice to step away from the computer a bit. Unfortunately, I can’t unplug entirely because of some work obligations but it’s still nice to be less tied to the computer (or at least it’s forcing me to be more productive with my time when I am in front of the computer).

Five Photos {PS I share more photos on Instagram. Are you following me? Please do!}

  1. Harbor in Kennebunkport, Maine. I mean, it’s kind of ridiculously gorgeous.
  2. A good friend of mine from junior high lives in Maine and it’s been so nice to hang out again. They took us out for a boat ride and Jasper loved sitting up front and sharing the view with his new friend.
  3. I got to spend the morning with Sarah from Run Far Girl and her adorable kids. I love when you can give your blogging friends hugs in real life.
  4. Running beach side. Nothing better.
  5. Ice cream. It’s funny. During the summer and whenever I’m in New England, I have to order Black Raspberry ice cream. Not sure why but it’s my summer flavor. These “kiddie” scoops of ice cream were about as big as my kids’ heads. The kids weren’t complaining…neither was I

Five Good Reads

  1. I Quit Liking Things on Facebook for Two Weeks. Here’s How It Changed My View of Humanity. I am trying this. I’m curious to see what changes.
  2. August Dislike. Speaking of liking and disliking, I can completely understand the August Dislike that Tricia describes. August is a weird month – combination of clinging to the end of summer and this weird anxiety about the end of summer and the start of routine again come Labor Day.
  3. Unlimited. Love this post from Kara Goucher about passion and inspiration and how we are all unlimited.
  4. Learning to Shun the Instagram Life. After talking about the comparison trap earlier this week, this post struck a chord with me and how the grass always looks greener on the other side and how it’s such a vicious cycle.
  5. The Second Wind of Dreaming Big. You know how when you exercise, you can get a second wind? It’s like this well of energy emerges from deep inside you and the exhaustion falls away. I love how Lindsay applies this to dreaming big and chasing after your dreams.

Happy Friday Friends!
