Some warm and fuzzy inspiration from Suzanne

Hi, Oddies! Suzanne here with a new project that’ll have you thinking of more new ways to use your SOG stamps! Today I’m sharing a felt coffee sleeve that I made with stamps from the “Breakfast Friends” and “Flirty Mae” clear sets.

Here’s a look at the coffee sleeve in action:

I first made felt coffee sleeves for my friends when we went to Winter CHA a few years ago, and they were a big hit, so I wanted to try making one with my SOG stamps! I stamped the coffee cup on some aqua wool felt with Staz-On ink, added the stitching to the face and coffee, then stitched the cup to the white panel.

Here’s a look at the front and back sides. The hot pink loop around the button is a ponytail holder that I attached between the two felt layers so the sleeve stays on the cup.

It’s helpful to do all of your decorative stitching and attaching first. That way the stitches won’t be all the way through both layers of felt. Here’s a closer look at the stitching on the coffee cup and the words. Here’s a closer look at the stitching on the coffee cup and the letters.

I tried to match the letters to the sentiment in the stamp set. I got close, but you get the idea! I probably could have stamped the sentiment, but I worried the letters would be too small for me to stitch.

And here’s a final look at the sleeve:

Pretty cool (or hot), right? These are so much fun to make and so easy to customize for a gift!

You can make the pattern from a spare disposable cardboard sleeve that you can find at most coffee shops. To make a pattern for each layer, make one layer about 1/2″ wider and longer.
