Some Odd Candles – holiday gift tutorial!

Hi all! Katie here to share some holiday inspiration and little tutorial on how to make your own Some Odd Girl candles. All it takes is some basic crafty supplies, a candle and a little bit of time and you’re well on your way to having some homemade decor in your home or some awesome gifts to give this season. What do you say? Let’s get started!

First here’s a run down of everything you’ll need:

Next just stamp your Some Odd Girl images onto some white tissue paper and color in with whatever medium you choose – I used the gingerbread pair from Gingerbread Kaylee clear set and Copic markers on mine:

Then comes the tricky part – cut those babies out as close to the line as you can get (it may take some patience since the tissue paper is so thin and hard to hold). Once they are cut out, place them where you want on the candle. If you’re having trouble getting them to stay you can use a little adhesive or wet the back ever so slightly with your finger and some water. Then wrap the candle in wax paper- make sure to have a big enough piece for you to bunch it up to hold onto in the back.

Now just take your heat embossing gun and gently heat the images- be careful not to linger too long in one spot as it will melt too much of the candle underneath. But just like when heat embossing with powder, you’ll be able to see a change in the color of your images when it starts to work- can you tell the difference in the pick below?

Almost finished! All that’s left is to peel back the wax paper and then embellish your candle with anything else you wish!

How much fun was that? And not too difficult, right? Want to give something special from the kids? Have them color up the images and you do the transfer – then you can have some holiday decorations made by the whole family. And I don’t know about you but there are definitely going to be some of these given as gifts from my house this year
