DIY Cloud Painting Nursery Art

My dear and beautiful friends Carla and Lacy are both having babies soon and I wanted to send them something special and handmade for the nursery. A few of my good blogging friends got together and decided to throw Carla and Lacy a virtual baby shower! At the end of this post, you can hop over and see all the amazing gift ideas. Once we finish digitally sharing our love and gifts we are all going to ship these for the new bundles of joy.
I decided to make small Cloud Art paintings for Lacy and Carla. These tiny acrylic paintings rest on a mini easel and are perfect for a tiny shelf in the new baby's room. So, I wanted to show you how to make these, as they are great gift ideas. You will need a small painter's canvas, a paintbrush and some acrylic paint. A tiny easel is a nice added touch too!

To get started first paint on a layer of blue in very painterly strokes. Use lots of paint and make thick strokes so the edges of the paint dry and the sky looks like it has texture.

Once your blue sky (top layer) dries completely, paint on a cloud using puffy strokes. Make the cloud a little off-center and add a few tiny clouds to the bottom to give the artwork some balance.

That's it! It's that simple! And the result is an adorable little piece of original artwork!

We love you Carla and Lacy and we are so happy for you!
