You know you've had a good weekend when you wake up sunburned, blistered and still shattered on Monday. And this one has been one of my favourite weekends in a long time.. Starting with dinner on Friday night with the girls at Sohe, Jesmond's latest offering (sorry, no decent photos though so guess I'll have to visit again and get some snaps..), and ending with an amazing day yesterday with Barbour at Belsay Horse Trials. When I was first contacted by Barbour about the event, I was pretty excited without even really knowing anything about what would be happening during the day.. I mean come on, it's BARBOUR! Definitely something to get excited about.. especially when they were kind enough to offer to dress me and Bosson for the day.

Kitted out in a pair of navy short gloss wellies and a Bella Freud jumper, we started the day with coffee and cakes before having a little wander around the course. Taking inspiration from quintessential British summers, the new Bella Freud collection features a range of super soft, light weight cotton-cashmere knits complete with nostalgic emblems, like the Daisy jumper which I opted for. Although with the sunshine bursting through the clouds, the jumpers unfortunately didn't last too long! After enjoying a stroll around the course, and almost being mowed down a couple of times by horses, we headed back to enjoy some Pimms before lunch was served. Back in the corporate tent after a few drinks, we soon found ourselves filling our faces with deliciously rare cuts of roast beef, salmon, spinach and feta pie, and a little too much potato salad. Having eaten our fill and even treated ourselves to chocolate cake for dessert, we decided to go exploring again. And made some new friends along the way..

Slightly sunburned, feet blistered from too much tramping around in our Barbour boots, and with a generously filled goody bag each, we headed back to the city around tea time. While I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to country pursuits, having the day out with Barbour showed me it's something anyone can get involved with. Even if it is just sitting enjoying the sunshine with a glass of Pimms.. HUGE thanks to Sarah and the lovely people at Barbour for having me along for the day!
