How to Dress For a Funeral for Women?


How to dress properly for a funeral is not so easy for women. Because the traditional mourning color in the western culture has always been black, most funerals will always have black as their main color. Other than black, any deep tones and respectful color works as well. But here are other things you should know before dressing for a funeral.
What you can wear to a funeral? 1. Choose dark colors Wearing any other color than black to a funeral is not disrespectful at all. However, the color should not be bright or have any wild patterns. Dark colors such as navy blue, black and grey are the best options to go for. Other deep tones such as Chocolate brown, Forest green, dark purple or midnight blue are also a great choice and perfectly bleed in with the mood. 2. Patterns should be kept subtle The patterns should however be kept subtle. For instance, black on black brocade instead of a multi-colored floral print. 3. Choose formal dress code For women formal dress code is a good choice when deciding on what to wear for a funeral. Black slacks, black blazers, and solid colored blouses in neutral hue are appropriate and good choices when it comes to funeral dress code. 4. Tailored jacke A tailored jacket is one thing that you should always have in your closet. It will always make you look pulled-together and will always be a good option for a funeral. 5. Wear a hat If you have a hat, it will perfectly fit in for a funeral. Wearing a hat will give you a polished look and a classic look. You should however be cautious and make sure that your hat should not be clumsy or outlandish.
6. Exclude any unnecessary jewelry Be careful about the amount of jewelry you ware to a funeral. Most classy women want to include their jewelry when going to a funeral. If you want to show your morning or probably just fit in the mourning mood, exclude any unnecessary jewelry and try to be as natural as possible. A funeral is not a place to show off your classy and stylish dress code. 7. Comfortable shoes Use comfortable shoes and take your time when choosing what shoes to wear. Have it in mind that funerals always involve a lot of standing and walking mainly the graveside services. Low heels with toed pumps are a great option. Flats will always be the best to settle for but in some cases boots maybe appropriate.
What you should not wear to a funeral? 1. You should keep of all vintage suits, high wasted pants or any ironic dresses.
2. Be careful and avoid all bright and loud colors instead stick to dull colors as described above. 3. All the patterns should be subtle and you should keep off any multi-colored floral print. 4. Avoid any uncomfortable shoes such as high heels regardless of their stylish look. A funeral is not a place where you want to spend your entire time uncomfortable and worried about your feet, it’s a time to show the last respect to your loved ones.
