Life Lately: 11 Month Old Crazy Man

Sometimes our 11 month old looks like this...
but since we're talking real life here, let's be honest- life looks a whole lot more like this 98% of the time...
and this...
and even though we are very busy- it's a ton of fun.
Age: 11 Months Height: 28 1/2 Inches Weight: Around 24 lbs.
I know that I say this with every "month" update BUT REALLY, where has my little baby gone? Can this vivacious, lively, RUNNING boy truly be the same one that I literally pushed out of my body less than a year ago? Crazy talk.
We've had a lot of changes since our last Asa update at 9 months (and of course, I missed 10 months because..we moved...I'm a mom...who knows). Asa started standing independently around 9 1/2 months, then went straight to walking at 10 months! I'm not even joking when I say that he started walking AND climbing stairs in the same day. No one warned me about this. I naively thought that I would have at least one year, maybe two before he was crawling upstairs, walking into the bathroom, and then pulling everything out of the cabinets. Nope- ten months. Nothing is off limits to this kid now.
With all the mobility, you can only guess how busy we've been in terms of baby-proofing the new house. I feel like an olympic hurdler every time I go to a new room as I step over baby gates and try not to knock them down. We have plugged the plugs, wound the cords, and strategically placed furniture to ensure safety. Despite all the baby-proofing, it has come to my attention that what really counts is that you are watching your little one all the time. Especially because they zoom to something new in seconds. Things have reached a whole new level of crazy!
The other exciting development that has become more apparent is Asa's language skills. While his diction and pronunciation is very "baby", we have been able to identify a few words. He says ba for ball, dat for dad, weh weh or meh meh for mama, da for dog, and just started with the ya ya ya ya sounds. Language is one of the skills that is so exciting to witness (but of course I do have a degree in Communications, so I guess it is not that surprising). Heck, it is all exciting.
One last note: While I am really enjoying our active Asa, I also really enjoy bedtime (mine included) all the more because of it!
