Diane Von Furstenberg Exhibit and a trip to The Fabric Store

Last Sunday we went to the Diane Von Furstenberg Journey Of A Dress retrospective at LACMA. If you are near LA, it’s a fun show to come and see. And it’s free, too. I brought two of my girls, and my older daughter brought a friend…After all my posting about my sewing my own version of DVF’s dress here ,and my search for her pattern here, I felt a trip to the exhibit was in order. Plus, I wanted to wear my handmade dress there, and make a stop at The Fabric Store on La Brea to buy some new fabric!

After a lovely meal at my favorite Korean BBQ spot, it was a perfect LA day out!

The exhibit showed off forty years of Ms. Von Furstenberg’s designs.
An homage to the wrap dress.

Feel like a woman…wear a dress. I heartily agree! I always feel great in dresses.

A great backdrop for my daughters as well as Izzy’s handsome Swedish friend… They look like a young family here! Mwaaaa!!!
Los Angeles County Museum has some amazing spaces. Too bad I only had my i phone with me…
Avant garde installation. Hands moving.

And how could I not go into Hollywood and not make a quick pit stop a one of my favorite fabric shops in the area ? Unfortunately Mood was closed as it was Sunday, but The Fabric Store WAS open. I picked up some pretty fabrics there, including a gorgeous beetle print silk. I also bought a pattern, Papercut’s Rigel bomber. Such a lovely package! The Fabric Store is one of my new favorite fabric shops in LA. Quite frankly, I’m getting kind of tired of having to dig through mounds of junk downtown to find good quality fabrics. Shopping on La Brea is a great excuse to get dolled up. I hadn’t been back to The Fabric Store since attending the opening party last fall.

Some exquisite sequined fabrics at The Fabric Store.
A stop at GenWa Korean BBQ on Wilshire is always an added bonus. I do believe it’s one of THE best Korean BBQ spots in LA!
My little sweetie likes spicy food!
Tanks on the Hollywood Freeway. Whatt the????
