Fitness Friday | October Goals, Let’s Drop this Last 20!

I’m only 20 pounds away from my initial goal weight. I have two goals – one that I would be considered healthy (within a normal BMI range) and a lower weight I believe I would be happiest with. After starting this last weight loss journey with a bang last year, I have struggled to continue to drop pounds steadily. I’ve pretty much fallen into maintenance mode without intending too, which is NOT okay since I still have a good amount of work to do!

I’ve been reflecting on my journey and realize that while I’m maintaining a baseline of activity, I have not been doing several key things that helped me to lose my first 25 lbs:

  • Not consistently exercising at a high intensity
  • Not tracked my caloric intake or planned my meals
  • Not drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of water per day

These are the three activities that are KEY for my personal weight loss!!!! I’m not sure at what point I lost my motivation but it seems I’ve been lackadaisical for a while. I can look back through my Fitness Friday posts and see where I began to wane. Posting each week is definitely an arduous task, but has also been so vital in my weight loss success! Thank goodness for KLP and Britt for keeping me motivated with their posts and personal encouragement along with all of you fantastic ladies who link up with us each week. I really can’t thank you enough for your support…I learn from and gain inspiration from all of you.

So that being said, this week I juiced and cleaned out my system a bit with a semi-detox to start fresh. I also dusted off my Polar heart rate monitor to keep track of how many calories I burn with each workout and plan to post a summary each week to help hold myself accountable. I need to workout no less than four days per week. Lastly, I am logging back into My Fitness Pal. Ughhhhhh, I hate tracking with a passion but honestly, it works each and every time. Logging every morsel of food I eat and all the calories I burn is a foolproof surefire way to get myself back on track. So my goals for October are:

  • Workout 4 Days per week for at least 1 hour per session
  • Drink 64 ounces of water
  • Eat between 1200-1400 calories per day
  • Take a multivitamin daily (I’m always falling off!)

I am determined to reach at least my FIRST weight loss goal by the end of the year since the summer went by without seeing me in a string bikini. I’m planning to take a trip to a tropical environment sometime in March and that is my new deadline. I work so much better when I have a purpose, event or specific date by which I want to reach my goal. I may not get there but it always pushes me to try! So…it is my overall goal to go ahead and drop these last 20 by the end of the year!!! We’re ready for you to add your fitness related post also, let’s help each other.
