MADRID SHOPPING: Spanish Products

If you would like to go shopping in Madrid, I have some ideas to recommend.

Salvador Bachiller Spanish Leather Goods

Spain is famous for their amazing leather goods and my MIL loves buying the softest leather shoes and other products every time she goes. Leather shops are everywhere, but for fashionable, high-quality yet affordable leather goods, I love Salvador Bachiller. I especially loved their turquoise collections. So chic! Beautiful Spanish Fans at El Corte Ingles

Growing up I loved using my grand mother’s Spanish fans. They snap open and close so easily with that distinctive sound and the details are gorgeous. A good place to look is El Corte Ingles. They have a selection from affordable 5€ to really special fans 100 €. Before purchase, check for broken parts and if they open and close smoothly. This is a great ideas for hostess gifts or pasalubong (gifts to bring back home from travel). Click here for store locations.

Check the customer service for the El Corte Ingles tourist card which entitles you to a welcome gift (i.e. free tapas and drink in their bar) and a 5% rebate.

Spanish flair and Big-bootie jeans at Zara

Where better to visit Zara (pronounced as th-ara) than where it all began? It was fun to see the merchandise they have in their own country and if you have a well endowed bottom, then this is a great place to buy big-bootie-pants. The pricing is a bit cheaper and if you don’t reside in the EU, you can apply for 11% tax back. Click here for store locator.

Shopping for Food

Another place to shop is at the supermarket. Spanish food is famous so items like Jamon, Olive Oil and Spanish Sardines is interesting for foodies to shop for. You can also go to a place like this.

TAX FREE SHOPPING

By the way tax-back also applies for other stores that are part of Global Blue Tax Free. Make sure to ask for a form and get all the requirements you need from the store you shopped in so you can get back some money before you leave. Ask for the correct procedure and requirements. Also there is a minimum accumulated purchase of 90 € per store per trip. Note that this does not apply to food purchases.
