Dark Hope: A new book to love!

This year I've converted into my old bookworm ways. I've always loved to read but somewhere in the past few years I stopped making time for it, which I hated! It made no sense to not make time for a favorite hobby of mine so I made sure that changed in 2014. I've already read at least 10 books this year, which is about 9 more than I did the previous year ;) One of those books was Dark Hope, a new young adult book by Monica McGurk. Dark Hope is the first book in the Archangel Prophesies Trilogy.

Monica McGurk actually won the 2013 Twific Fandom “Undiscovered Gem” award for her alternating ending to the Twilight series, before Breaking Dawn was released, which now I want to read! If you're a fan of Twilight and/or The Hunger Games books (guilty!) I think you'll enjoy Monica's work. She's very active on social media so be sure to follow her along here:

Her main character, Hope, is a likeable, teenage girl who survived an child abduction case years ago. While that's not something you hear about everyday, I still think that so many of us can relate to her. Hope leaves her over-protective father's house to go live with her mom. Suddenly she's the new girl in town and of course feels like an outcast to start because of her odd past. Maybe it's been awhile since we've been the new student in school, but many of us know what it feels like to be new to a job, living in a new city, etc!

Hope soon finds herself a new friend at school, Michael. A mysterious, yet friendly (not to mention gorgeous) teenage boy who's background intrigues Hope instantly. Even more intriguing is the fact that Michael seems to recipricate the same interest in her, as well. As things escalate quickly in this novel, Hope is suddenly filled with many questions. Why is she getting angry looks from another boy in school, whenever Michael is nearby? Who's sending Hope weird valentine's with Bible verses on them? Is Michael really a "protector" as he says? And what in the world is going on with the weird group project she and another girl have been assigned?

This book is truly a page-turner, and an easy-read that you'll have trouble putting down. What's most interesting to me about this book is how the social issues of human trafficking is intertwined with this seemingly, simple girl from Atlanta. The novel, although a fantasy/sci-fi novel, will open your eyes and leave you breathless. I'm already looking forward to the second book in the series, once it is released. It's a must-read which is why I'm excited to offer one of you a free copy of the book so you can see for yourself. Just enter below for a chance to win! a Rafflecopter giveaway
