Going Places {Peltekians Take the PNW: the Hotel}

I wanted to touch briefly on how much we loved our hotel in Seattle. Normally we stay with Marriott. It’s just a safe bet pretty much everywhere, ya know? Nothing fancy, but we trust the brand. And they are everywhere. But in Seattle – damn, they were expensive. Down by the waterfront was over $300/night the week we were there. So I did a lot of searching around to find a slightly better deal.

We ended up staying at The Maxwell in lower Queen Anne and boy, what a breath of fresh air! It was sort of a random find through a travel website that we had a discount on from attending a timeshare presentation. Got that? I didn’t have the highest hopes, for whatever reason. But thanks to trusty TripAdvisor, and all the excellent reviews, I decided it was worth a shot.

It was the perfect location – about a 5 minute walk to the Space Needle and all the surrounding goods. It was quiet and the staff was great. Complimentary parking, which is HUGE in the city. Comfy beds, cute decor, and for God’s sake, they put freakin cupcakes and coffee in the lobby every day from 3-6pm. SOLD! Not to mention you can borrow a yellow beach-cruiser bicycle anytime you want to get around on 2 wheels. When I saw that, I thought OK, this might not be a real place... So charming, it made me feel like I was living in a musical and at any moment the staff would break into song and I would start doing toe-spins through the lobby. I don’t know how to do those, except in my mind. I’m really good.

So if you ever get the chance, have a piece of pineapple hospitality (their slogan, not mine) and get a room at The Maxwell.

— in the lobby —

— view from our room —
— the cupcakes were Stevie approved —
— our first steps out of the hotel looked like this (!!!) so pretty all around —

I wasn’t paid to say any of this. I just really like that place.
