Ultimate Project of the Year Part 1

I earn my living through graphic design and spend my free time decorating interiors. But when the opportunity to do both comes knocking, I am more than willing to grab it because honestly, some of my projects are no longer that exciting. And “girly” projects like this rarely ever comes. So what is the project? A facial center!

The first thing I did after learning the name was to create a logo. It was rather simple, with lots of sexy curves because they are offering non-invasive slimming procedures like RF and Lipo Cavity. I also did the floor plan before proceeding with the mood board. Creating a floor plan used to be too intimidating for me but now, it is the part I enjoy most. Thanks to the Interior Decorating course I’m currently taking. Haha! Anyway, I won’t bore you with too much details on my thought process so here’s the mood board. (I would have hired a 3D artist for the perspective but they needed everything done by November 18.)

It was just timely that my current lesson that time was color psychology so I knew I had to use purple since it is the color that promotes anti-aging and reduces stress. The place also needs to be calming and at the same time, elegant. And since it is a skin and body care center, it should look clean, natural and sterile without looking like a hospital. So I kept the color scheme light and clean with touch of wood texture.

I fell in love with lavender while working on this project. I didn’t know purple can be such a soothing color. I think I want it in our home. Hmmm… Anyway, back to the design. I had to design a reception table and SketchUp helped. See, I could do this! Haha!

The unit had existing granite tiles which had damages. We also need to extend the elevated flooring the previous tenant had installed to add space for the treatment area. Re-tiling the space would take time and would cost more so I opted to use vinyl planks instead.

I personally love the purple side table! I found a picture online that I could use for the mood board. We had it customized and I wasn’t really expecting them to replicate it perfectly. Close enough was good for me as long as the color was right. But when I saw it, I wanted to take it home for myself. They nailed every single detail! Yay!

I was invited to Nippon Paint Trends Beyond Colours workshop last September and I knew I had to use their newest paint line, Momento Special Effect Paint, for this project. Like I’ve said earlier, I want to keep the decors to a minimum but I want extra “oomph” for the walls. Momento Silver Sparkle in Luminous Lavender did the job.

We had a minor mishap, though, which was my fault. While I was demonstrating Momento’s application process to the painter, I accidentally added an extra layer of paint making the color too dark, so I asked him to cover the area with Momento Primer. It left an ugly uneven patch on the wall (see left most picture above.) It didn’t look too bad on the photo but it really did in actual. Even the clients hate it. To remedy this, I painted a huge lavender square to cover the unsightly patch. It was a good decision because the logo was able to pop out even more. Thanks to my mistake! Hehe!
