NEW Wet 'n Wild Fall 2013 Be A Runway Beauty Collection

You might see this display start popping up in your favorite cheapy makeup spots. Ignore it. Here's why:

Most of this stuff is already in the permanent collection. The first row of items are all things you can find anywhere, anytime, in any Wet 'n Wild display. That second row with six Coloricon trios? Only three of them are new. And the bottom row of polishes are all ones I recognize from their ULTRA cheap "Spoiled" line of polishes. (The blue shades are what tipped me off.)

Therefore, I only purchased the three new Coloricon palettes (on sale, thank goodness): Silent Era Film, Camera Obscura, and Grays Matter. Let's take a look...

Silent Era Film
Silent Era Film was perhaps the most disappointing palette of all, as I had high hopes for these colors. It consists of a light taupe shimmer, a matte coral, and a hunter green shimmer. I dare say this is one of those rare WnW palettes I would actually use as directed, if the color payoff was any good. (But damn if I don't just want to love that hunter green shade anyway.)

Camera Obscura

Camera Obscura was the most surprising of the bunch. I expected that midnight blue to color to be, well, blue... but it is actually a black shadow with turquoise shimmer. Thing is, I didn't really get any shimmer from it when I swatched it, and it appeared as though most of the shimmer had been rubbed off after just a couple of swipes with the applicator. (Comparable, in a way, to their Fantasy Makers Halloween cream eyeshadows.) The matte tan color was sort of poopy, and the beigey pink shimmer in the middle was just meh. I probably have no use for any of this palette ever again.

Grays Matter
Grays Matter is a trio consisting of a silvery, lilac-y white, a dusty medium purple, and a purple with an almost periwinkle edge to it. All colors were very chalky- seems to me that WnW has trouble formulating purple shades. As you can see, the browbone color provided the best payoff of the bunch. It's almost ethereal, that color, so I suspect I will be using it again soon. The other colors in the palette are throwaways for sure.

All in all, I would say this collection was a total waste of time. I would not recommend. I appreciate that they tried to add some visual interest with the off the sort of "dusty," "off the beaten path" colors they used, but they're too 90s. And usually I mean that in a good way. But this time, not so much. Skip this and wait for the holiday collections to come out.
