The Destination and a New Brew

I got to go on a long run today. It was fabulous.

I have to be honest, I really felt like I needed a good long run where I felt okay to shake off the ASICS LA Marathon thing. That was my first race where I struggled that much and had to walk, etc. and as much as I’ve been trying to shake it off and not analyze it too much, well, I guess that just happens.

So today was just what I needed. A good run. Easy pace, nothing crazy, just a long run to clear my head, make sure I still had it in me, etc.

I wasn’t sure it would turn out as well as it did after my dinner last night.

Ha ha.

Yeah, I’ve had this just a few times over the past two weeks. Taco salad with roasted asparagus and cassava “fries” and guacamole. It’s not getting old anytime soon.

I’m experimenting a bit with adding more grains here and there so this morning I went for a blueberry breakfast STUFTwich with coconut oil, buckwheat honey and a few blueberries.

That went quite nicely with that blueberry coffee in my remarkable mug.

In full disclosure I must tell you Andrew is not a fan of the blueberry coffee. I like it, it’s not my favorite, but it’s fun for something different. He asked when I was going to stop making it.

So back to the run.

I know it’s all about the journey, but sometimes it’s really nice to have a fabulous destination.

Yep. I’ve run from home to the beach a few times now. It’s hilly and tough, but ending here is so worth it.

I had a little time to wait around so I just took everything in.

Finally my men showed up. Oh heck yes that was our plan and heck yes I always beat them there.

We like to pretend we’re racing each other and that everyone’s a winner! Yay!

Long runs are so much better when you’re really looking forward to whatever is happening next. The fact that the family was meeting me powered me through the last few miles.

It was darn beautiful out. The water was cold, but it only stopped me I guess.

As usual we found some good food afterwards.

As usual Andrew had a Bloody Mary to celebrate the long drive to the beach (while catching some March Madness). Driving is tough. Ha.

(Don’t worry friends. I drove home and I was sucking down water only like no other.)

T’s Cafe not only had a good Bloody Mary, but also had pretty good looking grilled cheeses for the boys. We go for the fruit option instead of the fries these days.

We tried a new brew this afternoon as well. I kept seeing this Chameleon Cold-Brew on Instagram so whne I found it the other day I decided to pick some up.

We needed a little pick me up once we got back from the beach and all and went for it. It’s a concentrate so you mix it with water or milk or whatever. I just did the water thing over ice, but it was yummy without anything added.

And it should be because it was not cheap. I found it at Sprouts by the way.

And whelp, that’s it. New rule in action friends. And it will soon be time for a different kind of brew this Friday evening. Can’t wait!

Have a great weekend!
