Race Updates and Tommie Copper Review and GIVEAWAY

Well hello.

Happy Thursday.

Random, but ventured to Costco last night with just one of the boys. His brother wanted to “work” with Daddy. I just have to say, shopping with only one kiddo is so much easier.

I also have to say that it is impossible to just go to Costco to return a few items and then get milk, bread and dishwashing soap only.

Got on the treadmill early this morning. Two days in a row. Woot.

Got in 8.5 miles.

2 miles warm up, 6 Yasso 800s with 1/4 mile recovery in between and then about a mile and a half cool down.

I don’t usually do any speed work in the Wave Inspire 10s, but I felt like I needed a little extra foot support today.

And, I wasn’t really planning on doing Yassos, but found this guy tucked in the console of the treadmill and he was giving me the eye.

Ha.

Actually, that’s not entirely true. I was fueled a little this morning by just trying to prove myself to myself. Does that make sense?

There are always going to be things that happen in life or people out there who make you think you’re not good enough in some way or another.

But you know what? It just doesn’t matter. Opportunities come and go. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t. What matters is that you do the work for yourself. It will pay off in the end.

In the big scheme of things the only person that you have to prove yourself to is well, you. And at the end of the day, the only people you have to impress and really come through for are the ones closest to you that need you on a daily basis.

And these guys are easily impressed with a little hot cocoa in big boy mugs after Mommy’s run.

Today was a rare day that I was done with my run, showered and ready for the day ahead before 7:00 am. If only every day was like that. Really, it’s rare. I wish it wasn’t, but I’m just being honest.

There was quite a bit of refueling going on this morning also.

Breakfast egg white scramble with chicken apple sausage and kale

followed closely with some sweetener free roasted kabocha and some of that Julian Bakery paleo bread pressed in the sandwich maker with some coconut butter, buckwheat honey and cinnamon.

Mmmm hmm….

So, let’s see. Some race news.

I was going to run the Transamerica Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco Half Marathon this Sunday. After a little family meeting and evaluation of all the traveling, expenses and races I have coming up in the next two months, some plans needed changing.

So……

as much as I really, really, really want to race this weekend and run in San Francisco, It’s not going to happen.

But, that’s okay. Now I can just get really excited for the next Rock ‘n’ Roll race I’m running in June and keep my fingers crossed I can race Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas.

The Suja Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon and 1/2 on June 1st.

(Use code MAMAROCKS for $10 off registration. It’s going to be AWESOME!)

And let’s see, Boston is in about 2 1/2 weeks now. That’s pretty crazy, yes?

I saw this somewhere yesterday on the internet. I’ve seen it before and I’m sure a lot of you have too, but I just had to share.

I’m doing the Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge this year along with my man Dean Karnazes. Hmm…. I wonder if I should ask him to bring me some canned tuna from his fridge. By the way, is it random that he keeps it in there? I keep tuna in the pantry, not the fridge.

Anyhoo..

I’m really darn excited about the Big Sur Marathon this year. Last year I did the 10-miler since I was injured. It was beautiful! I can’t wait to see the whole 26.2 miles of the marathon course.

The two races that are still open are the 9-Miler and the 5K. Both are perfect for someone attending BSIM with a runner, but not doing the marathon or other longer distance themselves or for someone just wanting to experience the beauty of the course by walking or running a shorter distance. The starts for each of these events is 7:45 a.m. and begin at the race finish.

Both courses run partially along the water on paved road and about a ¾ mile dirt trail. They share the route for two miles, then split with the 5Kers returning to the finish and the 9-Milers heading further down the course and into Point Lobos State Reserve. This is a beautiful area with woods, meadows, bays and crashing waves on a rocky shoreline. It’s the only event on race weekend that experiences this gem of a location. Here are some pictures of the course.

Incredible, right?

You can register here.

And….

the Big Sur Half Marathon registration just opened a few days ago. One of my favorite races by far. You can read the recap here.

Okay, moving on.

I was sent this cute compression gear from Tommie Copper to review as a FitFluential ambassador.

I received the women’s compression fit camisole tank

and these compression fit capri pants.

Both pieces were very impressive.

A few facts about the clothing and the copper pro ionic copper-infused technology.

Did you know this about copper? Yeah, me either. Pretty cool. And pretty cool that it’s in all their pieces.

I’ve been wearing both the tank and the capris for lots of different things. I love just wearing them out and about to run errands because they’re the kind of workout wear that you can double as everyday wear too. Gotta love clothes like that. I also wore them the other day to teach my BOSU class.

I even sported them for a run and I’m usually not a run in capris kind of girl, but thought I’d give it a try since they were so comfy.

Yep. Passed the test.

I love the tank too. I’ve only layered it under other shirts though because I was sent a white one. I’d probably wear it alone if it was a darker color. It’s nice form fitting and didn’t get too hot or anything during my workouts or my run. Love the longer length though so it can be layered under stuff.

Oh and obviously I was so inspired by my new workout wear the other day I had to make a quick video for you.

Wait, actually, we had to make a quick video. The boys are involved. Too bad they don’t really help with the demo, but at least you get to see them.

Riding the tales of the one leg burpees from the other day, I tried them with a BOSU for my class on Tuesday.

I’m pretty sure they were a hit so thought I’d share. Definitely not the easiest, but worth a try for something fun and challenging.

Here you go.

Yes? You like?

Okay, that’s not all, Tommie Copper wants to give one of you his or her choice or either the compression capri pants or the compression cami. Winner gets to choose.
