Shoes Worth the Wait, the Pumpkin Milk, Core Moves of the Week and TBT Pictures

Why hello.

This week just may be the longest week of my life. Ha ha. In a very good way, but man, I’m pooped. This new schedule is going to take a bit of getting used to (for all of us).

I’m three for three with the early workouts. I’ll stop talking about it, but I’m still in shock that I made it three days in a row. We’re going for five out of five.

I generally wait until the perfect time to break in new Mizuno shoes when I get them. I’ve anxiously been awaiting the release of the Wave Inspire 11.

I gave in this morning and said, heck with it, I’m putting them on for this morning’s run.

I’ll share more thoughts on them later, but I’m loving the new look that is similar to the Wave Rider 18 shoes. The laces are shorter just like they are in the Wave Sayonara 2.

They fit really well as usual and I loved my eight miles in them today.

I do not love that I finished off the last episode of The Mindy Project on my current Netflix DVD. I guess it’s time to whip out the holiday movies.

It’s raining here. It’s also pretty darn cold compared to what we’re used to.

I love cold weather, but my body doesn’t really like it. I had to explain to a student today that my hands weren’t dirty, they were just purple because I have low blood circulation and they were freezing. Lovely.

I never really did get warm all day so I had to make myself a little Silk almond coconut pumpkin milk.

I put 1/2 cup pumpkin and 1 1/2 cups Silk almond coconut milk with a little cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, almond extract and stevia in this glass measuring cup and microwaved it for 4 minutes.

Then I frothed the heck out of it and burned my mouth.

It was still delightful though and would be a good after dinner drink by the fire or something. I’ll definitely be doing this again and I need to revisit the whole pumpkin mocha thing too. It’s about that time.

I did a little explaining about what the “core” is when people talk about working their core today. I remembered that I never shared some of my favorite moves from last week.

Obviously you can never go wrong with planks, but it’s always fun to change it up with side planks either on the floor or with a BOSU.

Generally I have people hold the isometric position for a minute. If you’ve never done it before though it might be best to start with 30 seconds and to put your bottom knee on the ground as a modification.

Another variation I’ve really been liking lately is to hold one arm out in front for a bit and then switch to the other side. It makes you engage more muscles because you get off balance a bit. It’s definitely worth a try on the floor or the BOSU.

Lastly, we’ve been doing different variations of these alternating push-ups. You can do them on the ground and just moves your hands side to side, or transfer a medicine ball from hand to hand or my favorite of course is on a BOSU.

Here is the traveling BOSU push up.

You know you want to try these.

I haven’t taken many pictures of the boys. Our time we’ve been together this week my phone has been far far away, but we did take a picture before Good Night Gorilla tonight.

I don’t want my sister-in-laws to stop reading, so here’s some fun throw back pictures of the boys just because. You’ll probably be reading this on Thursday anyway and all the cool people do the whole #tbt thing.

Enjoy.

I may be in survival mode to get through the week in one piece so if I’m MIA that’s why. I have a couple of fun giveaways coming up though. Yay!

Hope you’re having a good week!
