fabulous & free - palos verdes peninsula

It's been awhile since I've posted in my Fabulous & Free series here on the blog, but I'm excited to get back into my recommendations for the best free things to do in Los Angeles. I'm all for having fun on a budget and our hike at Seascape Trail in Palos Verdes provided gorgeous views, a relaxing atmosphere, and a good bit of exercise all for absolutely free.
We decided that it was time to take our little monster dog Chewie on his very first hike and Googled around for the best dog-friendly trails. Plus, I've been feeling cooped up in the house lately and wanted to take advantage of the amazing weather we've been having. When we stumbled upon this post from the Hike Speak website, we knew had found a winner. I'm not really into traipsing through the wilderness, so a nice level hike near the ocean was just what I had in mind.
Southern California seems to have forgotten that it's the middle of winter so, even though it's January, the weather could not have been more perfect. The Seascape Trail is nothing but picturesque from beginning to end. The hike is not very strenuous, making it great for dogs and kids. The trail is very well kept and clean, with ample trash cans and benches along the route. Parking is free and easy to find. There are even areas with picnic benches and grass at the south end of the trail for a relaxing place to unwind and eat after the hike is over.
Oh, and Chewie had the BEST time! He loved making new friends on the trail and had a blast scampering around. We all had a really great time and I can't wait to take Chewie on another hike soon!
