Wow. I can’t believe we’re finally here: The end of The Mortal Instruments series.
It’s been six books, a KAJILLION pages and — let’s be honest — some iffy points here and there. *cough* books four & five *cough*
But, the journey has been so worth it. It was such a treat to watch everything (and I mean EVERYTHING, including the entire Infernal Devices/Clockwork series) come full circle.
Yes, the book actually ends. It’s not a series that just … leaves you hanging. Phew, right? I was seriously worried about that, but actually ended up 100% satisfied with the ending, and actually really quite excited for Cassie’s next series.
That’s the Dark Artifices series, which starts with Lady Midnight in March. In City of Heavenly Fire we meet — and, in my case, fall in love with — the characters, so I’m thrilled to read more Shadowhunter stories in the years ahead.
Truly, if you haven’t finished this series: Keep reading. I really marveled at how beautifully it all weaved together. The plotting and foresight and planning that must have taken! Wow!
All in all, City of Heavenly Fire felt like a BRICK in purse…but all that heavy lifting was worth it for such a funny and heartbreaking and well done story.
