Pirates and Fairies and Magic, Oh My!

I've talked a lot about nurturing my kids' creativity. About letting them choose their path and not stifling them by what society deems "standard." So my son loves so-called "girl" cartoons and loves his nails painted black from time to time. He also loves riding his bike in the dirt and getting covered in mud head-to-toe and is completely obsessed with anything creepy crawly. The first time he brought a live snake inside the house was the last time, because you know, mean scared mom over here!
When it's warm outside, I basically push my kids out the door and make them stay there for a good portion of the day. We have two acres which are perfect for exploring, playing make-believe and doing a whole bunch of dirty kid stuff. Lately, Colt has been into pirates. Anything and everything pirates, he's on board. He's found tons of buried "treasure" outside and it really does warm my cold black heart to see my boys using their imagination and being carefree.
Of course, I'm no supermom and most definitely sit my kids in front of the TV from time to time, and when we do, it's almost always Disney movies because obviously Disney movies are the best. Currently, my boys have been asking for old school Peter Pan, and they love the action, the pirates and yes even Tinker Bell. I think they just love the magic and wonder Disney brings to life. I know I did back when I was a kid. (The Lion King? Omg break my poor heart.)
So when I saw Disney had a new movie coming out titled The Pirate Fairy now on Blu-ray and Digital HD, I knew instantly it would be another one we would add to our collection. Combining fairies and pirates? No doubt my kids will love it. (You can see their Facebook page here.)
As always, Pinterest is an amazing source of good ideas and doesn't fall short when it comes to all things fairy/pirate related. You can follow Disney's The Pirate Fairy board for tons of awesome ideas. Not even kidding, check it out and you won't be disappointed. Have a pirate/fairy themed birthday party to put together? Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Other cool Pinterest boards to check out are this pirate board for infants to young adults, this board about Disney magic, this board inspired by fairies and my own Bambinos board where I pin all things kid related that inspire me.
Happy pinning friends and enjoy your magic Disney adventures.
