A couple of weeks ago, I made a promise to you, Dear Readers, that I would be working on new blog posts and that you could expect them to be published within the same week I made the announcement. Today, two weeks after I made that statement, I’m sure y’all are wondering what happened to that promise. Well, the good news is that I have a reasonable and valid excuse:
Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) happened.
I’m sure you guys are well aware of the details.
When I wrote about the new blog posts I intended to publish, I was referring to mostly beauty, events and hotel/resort/staycation stuff. After Typhoon Haiyan hit, I didn’t feel it was appropriate for me to be channeling my thoughts – much less talking about and publishing posts – on anything that may be viewed as very superficial or unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Having been in the blogging scene for almost three years now, I’ve already seen how much importance you guys have given to everything I share here on MyMy Blog. This time, I decided to give that love back and pay attention to other more urgent matters other than my own blog and happenings in my life that have nothing to do with the rest of the world. I know you guys care and are always there to show support and appreciation for whatever it is I have to write, but not everything is about me or my MyMy Blog. Right?
I’m sure also that you don’t need me to give you my version of the facts surrounding the tragedy, the statistics or demographics, and you don’t need me to give you my own “analysis” and insight into what went wrong and what has gotten so many people around the world so outraged. It’s all over the news – both local and international – for all of you to see on your own without me reminding you of it all. I’m sure you’re all updated on the facts as well as the controversies. You have CNN, Fox News, Google, Facebook and Twitter for that. Surely, there is nothing else I have to say on the issue that hasn’t been said or expressed by other people whose communication skills are far better than mine. So, you are most likely here on my site not because of anything brilliant that I have to say about the tragedy but perhaps just because you are interested in whatever I have to say – regardless of what it’s about. For that, I sincerely thank you, guys. In a few days, I will be resuming my regular posts. Please stay tuned for announcements I will have for you in upcoming posts.
Other than the explanation for why I have not published my new posts yet, I really have only these things to say about the recent events:

A Message To Our President
When Hurricane Katrina hit the United States of America seven years ago (a tragedy in and of itself, but certainly dwarfed by Typhoon Haiyan), Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism Frances Townsend made the following statement at a press conference:
“(The president) demanded that we find out the lessons, that we learn them and that we fix the problems, that we take every action to make sure America is safer, stronger and better prepared.”
I believe that statement is just as true of this tragedy. Our president, our government and we, the people of the Philippines, ought to commit to being more PROACTIVE rather than merely REACTIVE to whatever happens when the next calamity strikes. There are many people with brilliant ideas that you, Mr. President, might not have considered before. We, the people you represent, deserve for you to just be willing to listen to – and brainstorm with – those brilliant minds. Otherwise, this will be the ongoing story of our country for many years to come – putting band-aid on gunshot wounds. Not only does it not fix the root cause of our problems, it will also eventually lead to the certain death of the people you profess to care so much about!
Prayers For The Victims of Typhoon Haiyan in The Philippines
I know we are all emotional about this recent event. Who wouldn’t be? These tragedies brought on by typhoons and floods in the Philippines have been a recurring widespread danger! A lot of angry and hateful comments have been made online and offline about the incompetence, the political partisanship and the greed of the government officials whose job it is to represent our best interests and not their own, as well as some fellow countrymen who have taken advantage of the desperate situation, ignoring the real needs of the victims. What we need now is not to stir up more confusion and anger in our hearts but to come together before God and humbly beg for His mercy.
Please remember to mention the Philippines in your prayers, My Friends. Please pray for our leaders and our President also, that they may be guided by God’s wisdom, and that their hearts will be convicted to doing the right thing for the Philippines and its people.
