Beauty Trend: Bleached Brows

Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Kendall Jenner are all bleaching their brows but beware – this questionable new beauty craze isn’t for everyone. Beauty chameleon Katy Perry is the newest celeb to jump onto the bleached brow bandwagon recently posting a shot of her practically invisible brows on Instagram. The 29-year-old pop star may have also been sporting Kermit-the-frog green braided buns and neon nail art in the shot but her barely-there brows are grabbing all the attention.

Twenty-one-year-old Miley kicked off this bizarre new trend back in November last year when she appeared on the cover of W Magazine sporting the new look. Lady Gaga, unsurprisingly, quickly followed suit stepping out at a number of high profile events with her very own version of invisible brows.

But just when you thought this trend would last as long as a pie in a pie eating contest Kendall Jenner rocked the look on the runway for Marc Jacobs back in February this year.

While we’re not expecting the look to go mainstream any time soon we are surprised it’s managed to gain as much traction as it has.

After all, brows are an important facial feature. They frame the face and create balance and symmetry. Removing them flies in the face of everything we know and love about brows. If you’re tempted to try this trend at home we suggest it may be best to fake it before you make it permanent.

The best way to do this is to comb a combination of concealer and pale matte eyeshadow through your brows with a clean mascara wand.

Regardless of brow trends thicker, fuller Cara Delevigne-esk brows will always give a more natural, youthful look.
