6 Insider Secrets For A Pain Free Bikini Wax

Let’s face it, not many of us actually enjoy getting a bikini wax but when the sun’s shining a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do right? So to make getting beach-ready a whole lot easier simply follow our favourite insider secrets to bikini waxing nirvana.

1. Start slowly
It’s time to channel your inner Girl Guide and arrive at your waxing appointment well prepared. This may seem obvious but not only should you show up with clean, dry skin but remember to skip body lotion on the day of your wax too. Also your first bikini wax is not the time to try a Brazilian. You want to start small and take baby steps when it comes to waxing.

2. Arrive hairy
Your hair needs to be long enough to lie flat on your skin so you’ll need to stop shaving at least three weeks before you appointment. The longer you wait after your last shave, the more you’ll prevent ingrown hairs which tend to happen when hairs that are too short get waxed and aren’t able to be effectively removed from the root.

3. Time your appointment
Try and schedule your appointment for a few days after your period. Your pain threshold is much higher in the week after your period than the week before so check your dates.

4. Avoid the 4 S’s
There are four key things you need to avoid for the first couple of days after waxing to ensure silky smooth skin. They are:

Sun: Waxing can actually also remove the top layers of your skin along with the hair and this can heighten your sensitivity to the sun and increase your chances of sunburn.

Sauna: It’s best to avoid extreme heat-post waxing. You want to focus on soothing and calming the skin instead of heating it up.

Synthetics: Wearing looser clothing and natural fabrics, like cotton, will help your skin breathe easy and calm it down post treatment.

Sex: Some medical experts recommend abstaining from sex for the first 48 hours after any type of bikini wax. During this time your body is more susceptible to outside bacteria that can potentially cause an infection.

5. Getting SET for super smooth skin
Soothe: For the first two days post wax, if you experience any discomfort or redness, try applying a cold compress to cool the area. Also, be mindful to keep the area clean. A product like Vagisil Wash will not only help to keep the area clean but also prevents odour too.

Exfoliate: Regular exfoliating is essential for helping to prevent ingrown hairs. After hair removal, dead upper layers of skin can build up and trap hairs. When these trapped hairs can’t grow out, they grow back in, and you end up with pesky ingrown hairs.

Treat: As much as we try to prevent them, some of us are simply more prone to in-growns than others. There are many topical products available that when applied daily will stop in-grown hairs in their tracks. The key is to use them every day – not just when ingrown hairs appear.

6. Keep it regular
Schedule your waxing appointments about a month apart, exfoliate between visits, and don’t shave for the best results! If you stick with a regular waxing routine, you’ll find your waxes are less painful because the hair is at the perfect length for easy removal.

Almost all women deal with feminine odour. Who knew that you actually have sweat glands in your vaginal area? Exercise, your period, or even what you eat can cause feminine odour and make you feel unfresh. Only Vagisil Wash is infused with Odour Control to keep odour from happening. It’s gentle enough to use everyday – so now you can start every morning feeling fresh and confident.
