What’s the best way for us to stay calm and survive the silly season?
I say just ride the wave of silliness and fun! Opt for one glass instead of two (okay or two instead of three) and a smaller piece of everything, take extra vitamin C and B and a daily probiotic.

How do you keep calm?
The brain lives in the body so setting up a good home for it takes a lot of drama out. Eating natural whole-foods, exercising well, and having fun creates the optimal conditions for your brain to do its job which is to think clearly and calmly and make good decisions.

Is it ever too late to take up yoga?
It’s never too late. Now is the best moment ever! And you can reap the rewards immediately and lastingly. Yoga works directly on the endocrine system which regulates hormone production and release and this is pretty much what determines how we feel in any given moment so even one session will make you feel more positive and radiant. Isn’t that awesome?

Your best piece of advice for a newbie to yoga?
Listen to the teacher when she/he says ‘listen to your body’ haha! You are doing yoga when you’re not struggling. Any effort which interferes with regular breathing stops what you’re doing from being yoga. The whole striving thing (which can be useful in many other areas of our life) needs to be let go of in your yoga practice. It’s about being in your breath, in your body and witnessing the subtle processes that are at work. So you just have to chill out, surrender the ego and desire to be ‘good’ at yoga.

What’s your philosophy on life?
Gratitude basically. It brings contentment. Noticing what’s amazing or good around you all the time opens your heart. Life inevitably throws you situations and people you’d rather not deal with but if you can train yourself to take a step back and look more expansively at a situation most often (if not always) an aspect you can feel grateful for will reveal itself -even if it’s just the practice at dealing with difficulty. Jedi 101. It’s all good. You just have to understand how it’s good because the conditions are always shifting.

Your beauty routine?
Scrub and moisturise. Everything. Daily. Have massages and facials when you can. Drink water and eat fresh, organic whole-foods. It’s so easy!

Favourite hair and beauty products?
I love the Nahaia range of skincare -locally made ayurvedic botanicals with super activated ingredients. For hair I actually change it frequently but one of my summer faves is Giovanni Triple treats.

Favourite food?
This is a seasonal question for me -lately it’s been fresh globe artichokes from the garden. Before that asparagus and in the cooler months broccoli and spinach but basically I love dark green things drizzled in excellent local olive oil with himalayan, lemon juice and fresh black pepper.

Favourite cafe?
Hard to beat our neighbours at Orphan’s Kitchen and Santos on Ponsonby Rd.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Seriously?! Leave him! hahaha . . . ! Um maybe the gratitude thing. It really helps you feels happier.

What’s your can’t live without piece from your current collection?
The rock tank in all colours if I have to only choose one, but also lotus bud skirt in midnight, summer lucent dress in rose gold and the trade winds lace shirt.

What’s next for WE’AR?
California!
