DIY Green Leafy Wreath

I’m Sarah from EDEA SMITH blogging all the way from sunny England and i am SUPER excited to be one of the new contributors on Jennifer’s team at PinkWhen.
Our family moved to our beautiful new home last Christmas and ever since have been hard at work making it our own. Making unique items for our home is my passion, i LOVE a thrift store trip (I’m a self confessed bargain hunter!!) and i enjoy a good ‘up-cycle’ project. Between all that creating and crafting i also love blogging and drink too much tea.
This is SUCH a simple project that i decided to name it the ‘Cute & Super Easy Green Leafy Wreath’ (breath!) its a bit long winded i know, in fact the project probably took less time to make than coming up with the long title but it is cute, it is SO super easy, its green… and its a wreath. Boring detail aside this is a very easy project. I think it roughly took about 10 minutes to put together but the effect is WOW! The greenery brings a bit of the outdoors inside and brightens up our home.
WHAT IS NEEDED
> Willow/Wicker Wreath (this one i found at a thrift store but i have another in home which came from TK Maxx)
> Jute
> Scissors
> Green Leafy Decor (This came from our garden)
> Collect a length of jute to tie around the wreath, this will form a ‘handle’ which will allow you to hang it easier (it also looks pretty) ribbon would work too. I’m a big jute fan… i also think it looks pretty as were heading out of summer. My jute was around 10″ in length.
> I then began to feed the stalks of my leafy green through the curved wreath, i followed a clockwise direction. If you tuck them in securely they should hold in by themselves. I went around once and then back again until i was happy with the look.
> I had a spare section of jute which i tied in the bottom right corner to give a bow effect.
This wreath currently hangs on a large mirror above our fireplace in the lounge. I love the ‘pop’ of greenery it brings to the room. If this wasn’t cute enough though i had further plans for our little wreath, as the months and seasons change its totally changeable too. As Autumn/Fall kicks in i plan on changing the wreath to match seasonally.
There is just shy of 100 days till Christmas you know (eek!) but how great will this little beauty look dressed in holly and ivy? Perhaps change the jute for a shiny red Christmas ribbon? The possibilities are endless… For now however i shall appreciate its total lush green beautiful and how totally easy peasy it was to make win win!
