Rustic Handmade Christmas Decorations
There are around two weeks left till Christmas and were feeling very festive here, the tree is up, the mantel is decorated and the presents are wrapped (almost)
We moved into our ‘new’ home on December 13th last year, one of my very first things to do (as a Mommy with small kids) was to dig out our Christmas tree and get the decor up. We had no time to arrange new decorations (although we really needed them) so we used what we had and made do, our first Christmas in our new home was amazing..
Fast forward a year
The OCD rustic-o-holic in me has gone a little crazy, in a year we had decorated and revamped most of our home including our lounge so to go along with this we have had a HUGE overhaul of Christmas decor, out went the silver baubles and in came a more vintage/rustic approach. I want to share not one but TWO really simple and pretty Christmas decorations made from easily obtainable items.
Here goes…
Rustic Handmade Christmas Decorations
Five branches of the same length – i found these at a local home decor outlet. You could forage them but as we have had some bad weather here in the UK lately aka its rained loads i opted to purchase them instead
Twine

What to do
> Cut five branches to your desired length, you could use a longer branch for a larger star
> Tie the twine around two ends of the branches, secure tightly
> Follow the above with each branch until you have secured them in a star shape
> Tie a length of twine through the top of the star for something to hang the star with
What you need
Burlap – mine is on a roll, i used it as a ‘tinsel’ substitute on my tree also, a 15mtr roll cost around £3
Scissors
Wire
What to do
> Cut a length of Burlap material, mine was around 40cm in length
> Tie your bow – create a perfect bow tutorial HERE
> Fluff your bow until your happy with how it looks
> Flip it over and push a length of wire – mine was around 10cm length through halfway and tie in a knot leaving the two ends loose, this will allow you to attach the bow to your tree.
So there you have it, two very simple and very pretty decorations which will add a festive, home made approach to any tree this year.
